Experience

One of the firm’s founding partners, Roberto Quiroga held the position of managing partner for two terms between 2009-2015 and from 2020 until March 2024. As a lawyer, his career has focused on tax law, acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and financial and capital markets, assisting clients both in Brazil and abroad.

 

Quiroga has played a leading role in pioneering Mattos Filho’s pro bono work in Brazil for over 20 years, helping to build upon our firm’s cultural values and enabling us to make a positive impact on society. He was also fundamental in establishing our innovative governance model (which eventually became a case study at Harvard University), assuring the firm’s long-term stability and success within the Brazilian legal sector.

 

Quiroga is a professor of Tax Law at the Law School of the University of São Paulo (USP) and in the Master’s Program at the Fundação Getulio Vargas Law School (FGV).

Mattos Filho has a new managing partner

Mattos Filho announced that Pedro Whitaker de Souza Dias (pictured) take up his role as the firm’s new managing partner effective Wednesday, April 3. Following a ten-month leadership transition period with former managing partner and firm founder Roberto Quiroga, Dias will now lead the firm’s management for the next three years. His goal is to continue the legacy of the founding partners, strengthen business development, and ensure the firm’s stability and long-term success.

Pedro Whitaker de Souza Dias takes helm of Mattos Filho

“When you think that you have nothing else left to achieve, you are wrong: you always need to think about what more can be done,” says Pedro Whitaker de Souza Dias, Mattos Filho’s new managing partner. Instead of resting on his laurels, Dias has his sights set on opportunities and strategic growth for Brazil’s largest law firm.

Dias officially took over as managing partner of the Elite firm today, replacing Roberto Quiroga.

Mattos Filho announces new partner for its New York office

Mattos Filho has announced Paula Vieira (pictured) as the new partner in charge of the firm’s New York office. With a strong background in both Brazilian and cross-border M&A transactions, including private equity, Paula is a member of Mattos Filho’s Corporate/M&A practice and International Committee, where she coordinates the firm’s initiatives for business development outside Brazil.
