Compliance Program

Acting ethically and transparently with all of our stakeholders is key to Mattos Filho’s values. Ever since the firm was founded in 1992, we have been committed to leading internal and external initiatives in line with the best practices in the market.

Consisting of internal policies and management procedures, our Compliance Program has enabled us to create an environment with strict and effective controls, preventing practices that violate ethics, human rights, and Brazilian legislation. Our values, institutional culture, social DNA, and ESG-oriented vision all combine to promote transparency, reliability, and sustainable business growth.

Our commitment to integrity goes beyond our law firm. Remaining attentive to the market, our partnerships and suppliers helps us to foster sustainable practices and promote ethical conduct in all corporate environments.

Mattos Filho’s Compliance Program is structured as follows:

• Information security and data protection
• Ombudsperson and whistleblower channels
• Code of Ethics and Conduct
• Ethics and Conduct Committee

Brazilian General Data Protection Law – LGPD

Taking effect in 2020, the LGPD symbolized a cultural shift in Brazil toward collecting and processing information. Given our office in London and the similarities between the LGPD and the GDPR in Europe (in effect since 2016), we took preemptive action to strengthen our security processes, which meet the highest and most rigorous standards today. If you would like to know more about our information security framework, please click here.

Code of Ethics and Conduct

We are committed to conducting our activities ethically and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Our Code of Ethics and Conduct includes fundamental principles and rules that our professionals must all abide by.
