Experience
Rogério has extensive experience in criminal investigations and corporate litigation, having worked intensively to defend local and foreign individuals and corporate clients in many of Brazil’s major criminal investigations and proceedings over the last two decades. The Latin American Regional Forum Liaison Officer at the International Bar Association (IBA) Criminal Law Committee and a former director of the Brazilian Institute for Criminal Sciences (IBCCRIM), Rogério served three terms on the São Paulo State Bar Association’s (OAB-SP) Attorney Privilege Council, and one term on its Criminal Procedural Law Committee.
Rogério was previously a researcher at the University of São Paulo (USP) Law School’s Department of Criminal Law and Criminology, a visiting fellow at the University of Bologna (Italy), and a member of the Commission on Legislative Matters at the Institute in Defense of the Right to Defense (IDDD).
Rogério is a professor in the postgraduate criminal law program at the São Paulo School of the Judiciary of the São Paulo State Court of Justice (EPM-TJSP), a former professor in the economic criminal law postgraduate program at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-SP), and a guest professor in undergraduate and postgraduate criminal and procedural law courses at various Brazilian institutions. He previously served as an editorial advisor for the Revista Brasileira de Ciências Criminais (Brazilian Journal of Criminal Sciences) and the Revista de Estudos Criminais (Criminal Studies Journal) – Brazil’s two main Criminal Law publications – and has authored several works on criminal and procedural law in Brazil and abroad, with a focus on economic crimes.
Regarded as “a world-class white-collar defense lawyer” by The Legal 500, Rogério has been ranked among Brazil’s leading criminal lawyers by major Brazilian and international publications for many years, including Chambers and Partners, Lexology Index, Latin Lawyer and Análise Advocacia.
