Marking the date on which the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, International Human Rights Day (December 10) recognizes the ongoing fight against various forms of discrimination and the need to treat all people with dignity. To commemorate the occasion this year, Mattos Filho has published its second edition of Human Rights in Evidence, a book featuring research on various human rights issues in Brazil and beyond.
The result of a grand collaborative effort coordinated by the Mattos Filho 100% Pro Bono practice, the book harnesses the firm’s wide-ranging legal expertise to raise a series of important questions for society.
The book’s chapters cover topics including the migratory situation of Venezuelans in Brazil, property expropriation as a result of labor practices akin to slavery, and academic freedom to promote and respect sexual orientation and gender identity, among others.
