New partner joins Mattos Filho’s Banking and Finance practice
Experienced in handling complex financial system matters, Fábio Perez joins the firm amid regulatory updates in the sector
Mattos Filho has announced that Fábio Perez has joined the firm as a new partner in its Banking & Finance practice. A specialist in Brazilian Central Bank and National Monetary Council regulations, Perez primarily works on regulatory matters, combining his legal expertise with experience in financial and payment institutions to provide dynamic legal solutions.
Perez’s arrival comes at a time when financial transactions in Brazil are becoming increasingly sophisticated. He is set to bolster the firm’s internationally recognized Banking & Finance practice, which is already renowned for its technical expertise, knowledge of market players, and interactions with Brazilian regulatory bodies.

Fábio Perez holds a law degree from São Paulo’s Pontifical Catholic University and a postgraduate degree in Financial and Capital Markets Law from Insper. In 2025, he was recognized as a ‘Leading Associate’ by the British legal directory Legal 500, which assesses the performance of lawyers and law firms across various countries based on case analysis, client interviews, and market research.
Perez’s expertise covers authorization procedures with the Brazilian Central Bank, including the incorporation of regulated institutions, changes in ownership, and corporate reorganizations. He also works on M&A transactions and securities offerings, structuring financial products, foreign exchange, and international capital regulations, and participates in domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including bilateral and syndicated financing, trade finance, debt restructurings, and international bond issuances.
