Experience
Fabio is an expert in litigation and pre-claim settlement negotiations for preventing disputes. He predominantly assists clients in the automotive and agribusiness sectors, also working with product liability matters. Fabio also has extensive experience in credit analysis for investments and creating investment funds.
He is a member of the Ethics Committee of the São Paulo chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-SP), as well as the Dispute Resolution, Litigation, Product Liability and Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA).

Volkswagen wins R$2.23bn battle with dealerships over tax credits
A ruling by the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP) freed Volkswagen from having to share about R$2.3 billion in tax credits obtained through the so-called “thesis of the century”—the exclusion of the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) from the calculation base of social contributions PIS and Cofins, as defined by the Federal Supreme Court. The Brazilian Association of Volkswagen Distributors (Assobrav) intends to appeal the decision.

Mattos Filho authors the Brazilian chapter of The Product Regulation and Liability Review
Mattos Filho collaborated with the 2nd edition of The Product Regulation and Liability Review, an international publication from the British publisher Law Business Research Ltd., which is dedicated to laws and regulations concerning products in 19 countries. The book provides an overview of product liability, changes and innovations, and trends for each region.
Mattos Filho’s partner Fabio Teixeira Ozi and associate Rodrigo Martins Ruf authored the Brazilian chapter of the book. Each chapter contains a brief introduction to the country’s product liability laws, which is followed by four main sections: regulatory framework, causes of action, litigation, and year in review.
