Shipping & Ports
We advise local and international companies across a diverse range of sectors, including all forms of navigation and offshore services, public and private terminals, freight owners, as well as private equity funds, financial institutions and associations.
Our unique approach to the shipping and port industries combines outstanding service with a deep and pragmatic understanding of our clients' business.
Our main services
We assist with regulatory issues for the shipping and port industry, such as the Freight Tax for Renewing the Merchant Marine (AFRMM), pre-registration and special Brazilian registration (REB), REIDI, the REPORTO tax framework, and labor-related issues. We represent clients in consultations, bidding processes and administrative proceedings before the Brazilian Waterway Transport Agency (ANTAQ), the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Brazilian Navy (including port and coastal authorities), as well as Brazil’s Shipping Courts, Federal Revenue, environmental authorities and other bodies (CESPORTS/CONPORTS).
We advise on general shipping industry contracts (chartering, construction, crew) and port contracts (dredging, take or pay), including analysis of regulatory aspects of contracts within the sector.
We assist in implementing complex integrated projects, such as gas-to-power and rail-to-port projects.
We advise on M&A contracts, project financing, asset purchase and sale, as well as project modeling and proposing new models for shipping and port activities.
