New rules governing COAF’s activities

​On January 1st, 2019, Decree No. 9,663/2019 was published in the Official Gazette, approving the new by-laws of the Brazilian Financial Activities Control Council ("COAF") and changing the rules applicable to activities undertaken by COAF, formerly regulated by Decree No. 2,799/1998.

Among the amendments, Decree No. 9,633/2019 regulates administrative enforcement procedures contemplated by Law No. 9,613/1998 ("Money Laundering Law") and changed COAF's structure. Below is a table containing the key changes introduced by Decree No. 9,663/2019:
