Oil and Gas

Petrobras has formally presented today, May 25, to the National Council of Energy Policy ("CNPE") its intention to exercise its preemptive rights in relation to areas that will be offered during the 2nd and 3rd Bid Rounds for exploratory blocks granted under the production sharing regime.

With respect to the 2nd Bid Round, the state-owned company has decided to exercise its preemptive rights for the areas adjacent to the Sapinhoá field, which is subject to unitization and, for the 3rd Bid Round, the Peroba and Alto de Cabo Frio Central areas. Both the 2nd and 3rd Bid Rounds are scheduled to be held on October 27, 2017.

Petrobras' E&P director, Ms. Solange Guedes, stated that exercising preemptive rights in respect of such areas does not mean that Petrobras will not participate in the Bid Rounds for other areas being offered.

For the areas of Sapinhoá, Peroba and Alto de Cabo Frio Central, Petrobras shall hold a participating interest of at least 30%. The state-owned company added that it could increase such percentage during the Bid Rounds by partnering with other bidding companies.
